The Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE) SME RISE Initiative is focused on supporting SMEs to aid the growth of our economy and have therefore expanded the SME Rise Funding Readiness and Capital Matching initiates to more companies.

The JSE is collaborating with the SEDA, SEFA and Western Cape Government, Department of Economic Development and Tourism to deliver a unique Capital Matching solution for SMEs.

As part of the JSE’s vision in growing shared prosperity, the JSE is excited to bring to the market a solution that will fast-track the growth of SA’s Private Companies.  We will be providing a platform with an ecosystem of advisors, educational enablers and networks that ultimately will enable SME’s to attract the right level of funding. 

SME Solutions that will be provided by the JSE Enterprise Acceleration Programme:

The Township Digital Market Access Programme, in partnership with the UK South Africa Tech Hub aims to empower and onboard 200 small, medium and micro enterprises (SMMEs) from Soweto, Diepsloot, Tembisa, Hammanskraal and Soshanguve onto e-commerce and marketplace platforms.

The Botswana Innovation Fund (BIF) is a grant scheme established by the Government of Botswana to support innovation and technology advancement in the country. BIF was established through a statutory instrument in 2017 and was fully operationalized in 2018.  

The Fund promotes innovation through technology, product and business development in the private sector by providing cash grants to companies registered under the BDIH as well as universities and research organization rendering services to the BDIH registered companies. 

Metropolitan Collective Shapers, a youth empowerment initiative, has launched its entrepreneur programme in KwaZulu-Natal and is calling for applications. The initiative, established in 2021, is designed to equip young entrepreneurs with relevant skills and resources to help participants scale their businesses, create employment within their communities, build a network and facilitate market access for their businesses.

The Entrepreneurship Development in Higher Education (EDHE) seeks to appoint a Consultancy/Service Provider for the project completion of the University Entrepreneurship Resource Video Campaign.

The primary objective of the University Entrepreneurship Resource and Video Project is to document stories about entrepreneurship resources at public universities in South Africa. The videos will contribute to increased knowledge and understanding of the resources in place at universities to support student entrepreneurs.

The Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) in partnership with the Department of Mineral Resources and Energy is initiating an exploration fund.

The Fund is established for the following objectives:

• to assist qualifying enterprises in the mining industry to conduct prospecting work
• to increase Black Junior Miners’ access and license to mine ore bodies
• to promote economic inclusion to support equitable economic growth
