Applications are now open for the Third Edition of the Presidential African Youth in Artificial Intelligence and Robotics Competition 2026, a flagship continental initiative designed to advance Africa’s leadership in Artificial Intelligence (AI), Robotics, and emerging technologies.

Applications are now open for the Digital Energy Challenge 2026, an international innovation programme supporting SMEs developing digital and AI-enabled solutions that improve energy access, accelerate the energy transition, and enhance the operational efficiency of energy utilities across Africa.

The initiative is supported by the French Development Agency (AFD) and partners and aims to help innovative companies scale proven digital technologies that address some of Africa's most pressing energy challenges.

About the Grant

The Jennifer Ward Oppenheimer (JWO) Research Grant is a prestigious funding opportunity awarding one grant of USD 150,000 to a single successful applicant to support a biodiversity and conservation-focused research project or programme based in or focused on Africa. The grant supports research over a period of up to three years and is designed to advance scientific knowledge while generating real, scalable solutions to African conservation and biodiversity challenges.

The AEDIB Joint Innovation Facility (JIF) 2026 is a strategic Africa–Europe funding mechanism designed to scale digitally enabled, commercially viable innovations through strong cross-border partnerships.

Implemented under the Africa–Europe Digital Innovation Bridge (AEDIB) and aligned with the EU Global Gateway Africa–Europe Investment Package, JIF supports African-led consortia that are ready to expand established digital solutions across markets between Africa and Europe while embedding measurable climate-positive impact.

The Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP) of the Government of Japan is open for Namibia‑based grassroots projects that deliver direct, tangible benefits to vulnerable people and communities. Through the Embassy of Japan in Namibia, the GGP funds small‑scale, community‑level infrastructure and equipment projects implemented by registered NGOs, community organisations, educational and medical institutions, and local authorities, with a maximum grant size of N$ 1,172,405 (approx. USD 66,666) for the 2026 fiscal year and a project period of up to one year.​

The Estonian Centre for International Development Cooperation (ESTDEV) has launched an application round to fund development cooperation projects in Botswana, Kenya, Namibia, Zambia, Tanzania and Uganda, with a total indicative budget of €600,000.
