The 2026 Western Cape Economy Innovation Awards are now open for nominations, celebrating innovations that strengthen the Western Cape economy and create jobs across the private sector, academia, non-profits and the public sector.

Africa: The Big Deal, in partnership with FMO Ventures, has launched the “Data for Founders” initiative to support 100 early‑stage start‑ups across Africa with free access to high‑quality fundraising data and expertise. The programme gives selected ventures two years of free access to Africa: The Big Deal’s comprehensive funding deals database (4,200+ deals worth over USD 20 billion, covering all transactions above USD 100,000 across equity, debt, grants and exits), alongside practical guidance on using data to design a data‑driven fundraising strategy.

The Climate Finance Accelerator South Africa (CFA‑SA) is accepting applications for its 2026 cohort, offering intensive, tailored support to help South African low‑carbon projects become more bankable and investor‑ready.

The UN Capital Development Fund (UNCDF), under the Pro‑Congo programme, is inviting Expressions of Interest (EOIs) from private enterprises in the Congo Basin to access blended financing and technical assistance for nature‑positive, deforestation‑free and climate‑resilient business models. The initiative targets MSMEs that can drive sustainable land use, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, protect biodiversity and create inclusive livelihoods through activities in sustainable agriculture, renewable energy, forest-industry transformation, landscape restoration, and ecotourism.

The European Partnership for a Sustainable Future of Food Systems - FutureFoodS has launched its Second Joint Transnational Co‑funded Call (FutureFoodS Call 2025): “Accelerating Food Sustainability through Household Dietary Shifts, Trust and Transparency, and Innovations in Circular Food Processing Systems.” This call will support transnational research and innovation projects that accelerate the transition to sustainable, healthy and fair food systems in Europe by transforming how we eat, process and supply food, connect with food systems, and govern food systems.​

The International Center for Not-for-Profit Law (ICNL) is inviting proposals for the call “Empowering Civil Society Partners in SIDS and LDCs to Defend and Expand Civic Space”, offering grants of up to USD 20,000 for civil society organisations (CSOs) working in selected Small Island Developing States (SIDS) and Least Developed Countries (LDCs).

The Technology Innovation Agency (TIA), South Africa, and BioCubaFarma (BCF), Cuba, have extended their joint Expression of Interest (EOI): South Africa–Cuba Biotechnology Collaboration to Friday, 27 February 2026. This EOI seeks South African partners to collaborate with Cuban institutions on technology transfer, joint development, and joint ventures for innovative biotech products, with a strong focus on therapies for neurodegenerative and chronic diseases such as Parkinson’s disease, Multiple Sclerosis, Dementia, lung cancer, and Alzheimer’s Disease.
