The Innovation Hub, the innovation agency of the Gauteng Province is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Gauteng Growth and Development Agency.  It was established by the Gauteng Provincial Government through its Department of Economic Development to promote economic development and competitiveness of Gauteng through fostering innovation and entrepreneurship.

Senovate has develeped a fruit-picking device called the Omniharvester. It allows pickers to harvest fruit from tall trees without having to elevate themselves. It comprises a long telescopic pole made from aluminium with a hook at the top that has scissor blades concealed in it. The user simply locates the fruit stalk by hooking it, he/she simply presses the lever at the bottom which forces the scissor blades together, therefore, cutting the fruitstalk. With the aid of substantial funding from various groups including the IDC and TIA, Biodx has developed and produced environmentally responsible disinfectants and preservatives for a wide range of markets. These include water treatment, industrial, agricultural and food industries. Our products are non-corrosive, easily biodegradable, and disrupt biofilms whilst providing exceptionally high levels of efficacy.

The Durban University of Technology is a tertiary institute of learning that has seven campuses in Durban and Pietermaritzburg. We aim to be the preferred university for developing leadership in technology and productive citizenship.
