Overview of innovation

The technology is a membrane-based system developed from waste expanded polystyrene (EPS) using electrospinning to create a nanofibrous material with superhydrophobic (water-repelling) and superoleophilic (oil-attracting) properties. It enables crude oil adsorption, recovery, and membrane regeneration, allowing spilled oil to be efficiently removed from water and recovered for reuse while the membrane is regenerated for multiple cycles. This approach offers a sustainable
solution that tackles both oil spill pollution and plastic waste through circular material use.
