Unlocking Trade Opportunities through Collaboration
Department of Trade, Industry and Competition (the dtic) invite you to participate in the South Africa-Saudi Arabia Virtual Outward Selling Mission. The objective of this virtual mission is to facilitate access for South African value-added meat products into the Saudi Arabian market. The Saudi Arabian government has lifted a 21-year ban on importing meat from South Africa, allowing South African producers to access the sizeable Saudi Arabian market. Saudi Arabia remains a strategic country for growing exports, with all meat product imports valued on average at $1.9bn annually over the past five years. The targeted sectors for this mission include red meat and livestock products.
Exports remain an essential element of the country’s industrialisation drive. Key stakeholders will share insights on the meat export market opportunities presented by Saudi Arabia. The International Animal Health Organization (OIE) has in the past declared South Africa free of foot-and-mouth disease. The declaration has given South Africa access to a number of export markets. South Africa’s well-developed meat-producing sector is well-positioned to supply and meet the demand of the Saudi Arabian market.
KEY THEMES TO BE DISCUSSED
- Saudi Arabia meat market opportunities and market access requirements
- South Africa’s meat export value proposition and industry capabilities
Time: 10:00 SA time (11:00 Saudi Arabia time)
