Ultra-Portable Urodynamic Device
Overview of innovation
TheUltra-Portable Urodynamic Device (uPUDS) device is connected to the patient via two catheters: one placed in the rectum and one in the bladder (this is standard for urodynamic devices). The catheters are connected to pressure sensors on the device. The pressure that is measured is transmitted to a cell phone or tablet via Bluetooth in real time. The pressure readings give the treating physician an overview of the function of the bladder and lower urinary tract.
The data collected by the device is captured on the cell phone or tablet and can be used for diagnostic purposes. The patient can also give feedback via the app that is used to annotate the pressure readings.
