Overview of Business

Thandizam Trading Enterprise is a Buy-Back Centre based in Mdantsane Township, Zone 8, Buffalo City Municipality. As a former waste picker, I have developed my skills to build capacity among the most vulnerable, particularly those affected by poverty. Our goal is to increase the demand for recycling services and promote energy efficiency in both the public and private sectors.

Thandizam Trading Enterprise adopts a market-based approach to enhance and expand solid waste management services. We aim to boost the demand for recycling services within the commercial sector, improve the performance and profitability of private-sector service providers, and increase government support for sector involvement in waste management.

To achieve this, we provide waste pickers with:

  • Training programs
  • Workshops
  • Exchange programs
  • Bursaries
  • Learnership and certification programs

These initiatives address challenges in accessing recyclables and promote energy efficiency, while supporting vulnerable participants in the market. In addition, we will manufacture sustainable products such as:

  • Brooms
  • Food bowls
  • Floor tiles
  • Roof tiles
