Scaling up of production of Banana fiber hair extensions and related products

Skilpack Ltd Uganda is an eco-innovation company that turns banana pseudostems, a waste product from banana farming, into valuable biodegradable fiber products. We have made Banana fiber hair extensions that are itch-free, non-toxic, and eco-friendly. Other products include Carpets, rugs, caps, lampshades, and a banana fiber knitted sweater prototype using banana yarn. This process helps reduce plastic use and promotes sustainability. We recently acquired the first patent for banana fiber processing into soft fiber for yarn spinning in 2025.

Their model includes environmentally friendly practices, affordable processing methods for rural areas, job creation opportunities for farmers and youth, and a supply of green materials for various industries. Skilpack aims to support Uganda's green industrialization and global sustainability goals.
