Online Masterclass on Software Commercialisation
More and more invention disclosures include software. But software is complex and usually comprises numerous components from a variety of sources, bringing risks and benefits. This masterclass by the Southern African Research Innovation Management Association (SARIMA) is aimed at skilled technology transfer officers without specialist software knowledge, who increasingly need to understand how to assess disclosures that include software. It will include tips for effective triage, assessment of software quality and value, and the implications of open-source software. There will be numerous examples of software projects that have successfully transferred out of research labs, using a range of different architectures and business models.
