The Raymond Ackerman Academy of Entrepreneurial Development Programme (RAA-ED) invites applications from Youth residing in South Africa and the SADC Countries of southern Africa.
 
This six-month, full-time On-line Programme is offered out of the Johannesburg Business School (JBS), a Faculty of the University of Johannesburg. The Vision of RAA-ED is to inspire and empower young people to become economically active and responsible citizens. Upon completion learners may decide to further their studies, find a job and/or start a new venture with guided support received from the Programme.

Entry to the Academy is merit based and 60 - 140 students are selected annually, after shortlisting from this application process followed by panel interviews.

What you get
Entrepreneurship Training

The programme consists of units in business and personal development. These include: 

  •    Entrepreneurship, innovation, business idea development and testing
  •    HR, marketing, management, strategy, accounting and operations
  •    Business numeracy and literacy
  •    Mental Health and Resilience
  •    Entrepreneurship 
  •    Technology, 4IR, Social Media Marketing
  •    Pitching and Business Plan methods 

Workshops:

Workshops on time management, presentation skills, career readiness and professionalism, Inclusion and Diversity, Innovation, Design Thinking, Digital Transformation, and other topical subjects.

Full Programme Tuition Scholarship: 
The tuition fee of R35 000.00 is generously sponsored by the Ackerman Family Foundation for learners admitted onto the Programme
Business Plan and Pitch Competition:
You may submit your Business Plan after exams are completed and stand a chance to be selected to Pitch to a Panel and win an Award  
University of Johannesburg Qualification: 

Successful learners receive a Raymond Ackerman Academy of Entrepreneurial Development (UJ Short Learning Program Certificate) that will serve them well in the future
Development Support:

Development support through individual and group consultation sessions, entrepreneurial immersions (Workshops and Field Trips) and guest speaker engagements

Opportunity to compete for the fully sponsored RAAMP 12-month business mentorship Programme that will provide consistent support thorough 23 activities during the year, with both financial and non-financial support.
Who you are

  • Are you at least 18 years and at most 35 years by the application closing date
  • Reside in South Africa or SADC
  • Are available full-time for 6 months
  • Have a business idea or already be running a business
  • Have passed Matric having a Certificate or have equivalent prior learning or business experience 
  • Passionate about entrepreneurship and personal development
