Call for Applications: Allan Gray Centre for Africa Entrepreneurship PhD and Master’s Scholarships

The Allan Gray Centre for Africa Entrepreneurship (AGCAE), based at Stellenbosch University, in collaboration with the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research, through the Innovation Bridge Portal is pleased to announce the opening of applications for its prestigious PhD and Master’s scholarships for the 2026 academic year. These scholarships are designed to support exceptional emerging researchers who are passionate about contributing to original, high-impact research in the field of entrepreneurship in Africa.
With a strong focus on the research-practice-policy nexus, the AGCAE seeks candidates who aim to generate actionable insights that address real-world entrepreneurial challenges across the continent. Through academic excellence and cross-disciplinary collaboration, the Centre works to drive innovation and foster inclusive, sustainable development through entrepreneurship.
The AGCAE will award a total of six fully funded scholarships for the Class of 2026:
- Three (3) PhD Scholarships (funded for three years)
- Three (3) Master’s Scholarships (funded for two years)
These scholarships are highly competitive and intended for outstanding students who exhibit academic excellence, originality in research thinking, and a commitment to advancing entrepreneurship in Africa through rigorous inquiry and applied outcomes.
What the Scholarships Offer
Successful applicants will benefit from a comprehensive scholarship package that includes:
- Full tuition coverage for the duration of the program (three years for PhD, two years for Master’s)
- A living stipend to support day-to-day expenses
- Research funding to support data collection, fieldwork, and related activities
