Bveledzani Pertunia Makhado's passion for environmental sustainability ignited her into the entrepreneurship destination. “The growing concerns over waste management and the harmful effects of improper disposal of used oil were eye-opening for me,” she explains.

This passion led her to establish Vultures Waste Management and Projects, focusing on efficient and eco-friendly waste management services, particularly used oil recycling.

Bveledzani says, “We take the oil to an oil refinery company where they process it into a brand-new oil and new products such as blasting products used in mines and some of the oil is used for tar road construction.”

The project’s plan is for them to have their own used oil refinery facility to process used oil into a brand-new oil/product to add value and sell at a reasonable price for reuse.

"My goal is to inspire others to think critically about waste and sustainability, and to demonstrate that it is possible to build a successful business while making a positive impact on the environment and the community," she says.

Her business not only helps reduce environmental pollution but also aligns with several Sustainable Development Goals. "We aim to reduce pollution and minimise the environmental impact of improper waste disposal, contributing to long-term environmental sustainability and community well-being," she says.

However, as a female entrepreneur in a male-dominated industry, Bveledzani faced challenges. "I encountered situations where my expertise was questioned or underestimated. To overcome this, I focused on building a strong track record of success and consistently delivering high-quality work," says Bveledzani.

She concludes with words of advice to women, “Stay confident in your abilities and remain committed to your vision. Surround yourself with mentors, peers, and advisors, and maintain a healthy work-life balance. Your journey can inspire future female entrepreneurs.”
