The Africa-Europe Foundation (AEF) is an organisation that fosters collaboration between Africa and Europe to address shared challenges, particularly in the areas of sustainable development, climate action, and governance. By bringing together key stakeholders from across both continents, AEF aims to transform dialogue into action and catalyze impactful cooperation. AEF serves as a network of networks, uniting different sectors to drive sustainable development, particularly focusing on areas like the blue economy and ocean governance.
Background Information

The sustainable use of ocean resources—commonly referred to as the blue economy—is becoming an increasingly critical area for both Africa and Europe.

Both continents face growing challenges related to the governance and management of these sectors. However, there is an urgent need to prioritize youth engagement and ensure that young people are represented in decision-making processes related to ocean governance.

To strengthen collaboration between Africa and Europe on these critical issues, the AEF is conducting a youth-related mapping study. This study is focused on identifying and highlighting youth-led initiatives, organisations, and leaders in the blue economy and ocean governance sectors across both continents. The goal is to create a cross-continental network of young leaders and potentially develop an Africa-Europe Youth Ambassador Programme on Ocean Governance and the Blue Economy.

We invite youth leaders and youth-led organisations involved in the blue economy and ocean governance across Africa and Europe to participate in this study by providing information through this form. The data collected will be used to:

  • Map and highlight youth-led efforts and organisations across Africa and Europe that are driving innovation, advocacy, and action in the blue economy.
  • Identify emerging youth leaders who can contribute to future cross-continental collaborations, including a potential Youth Ambassador Programme.
  • Foster networking opportunities between youth leaders and organisations, enhancing collaboration between Africa and Europe in the blue economy sectors.
  • Compile a report that will be shared with stakeholders, including international organizations, governments, and youth networks, helping raise awareness of your work. Your contact information will only be used for follow-up purposes, such as potential engagement opportunities or future program notifications.
