Innovation Capital
The Innovation Fund has continued to fuel South Africa’s innovation ecosystem by supporting its implementing partners through multiple Venture Capital Funds. Through its direct investment model, the Fund has also partnered with 27Four, Anza Capital and CSIR C3 strengthening access to finance for game-changing start-ups and SMEs.

Innovation Investments
HYENA is a spin-out company from the Department of
Chemical Engineering at the University of Cape Town. HYENA has developed the POWER POD as a solution to deploy fuel cell technology into Africa, where hydrogen distribution is all but non-existent. HYENA’s POWER POD is a diesel generator replacement technology that produces on-site, on-demand and reliable electricity.
NjiaPay is the Payments-as-a-Service provider that simplifies payments for Africa. With one integration, merchants exposed to Africa get a fully managed solution, not just access to an Acquiring Bank or PSPs, but a complete Payments Management Platform. A platform that actively optimizes payments, increases revenue, and reduces complexity, while taking the operational burden off merchants.
