Innovation Capital
The Innovation Fund has continued to fuel South Africa’s innovation ecosystem by supporting its implementing partners through multiple Venture Capital Funds. Through its direct investment model, the Fund has also partnered with 27Four, Anza Capital and CSIR C3 strengthening access to finance for game-changing start-ups and SMEs.

Innovation Investments
Phagoflux is developing innovative sensing technology, transforming how it monitors cell health. Its novel approach quantifies autophagic flux, offering a promising avenue to transform healthcare and save lives.
Autophagy, much like regular car maintenance, is a vital intracellular cleaning process that prevents the accumulation of toxic materials within cells. At its core, ‘autophagic flux’ signifies the speed at which these harmful substances are efficiently removed through autophagy.

The Dietary Intake Assessment Application for South Africa (DIASA), developed by the South African Medical Research Council (SAMRC), is a digital tool designed to modernize and streamline the collection, coding, and analysis of dietary intake data for research and public health. By integrating the latest South African Food Composition Tables, culturally relevant portion-size visuals, and user-friendly recall methods, DIASA enhances the accuracy and efficiency of dietary assessment across diverse populations.
