The VICTAM Foundation Call for Funding 2027 is inviting researchers, organisations, innovators and eligible commercial companies to submit proposals for projects that contribute to the development of the animal feed and flour milling industries.
The Foundation supports innovative projects that advance technology, sustainability, efficiency, animal nutrition and knowledge development across the global feed and flour milling sectors.
Funding Available
- Up to €50,000 for a one-year project
- Up to €40,000 per year for multi-year projects
A well-substantiated financial justification must accompany every application.
Co-financing is positively valued.
Funding Categories
Category 1: Future-Proof Feed Technology
Projects should contribute to making feed production more sustainable and resilient, including:
- Significant reduction in energy costs
- Reduction of CO₂ emissions across the production chain
- Improvements in animal welfare
- Downscaling production to support more regional production chains
Category 2: New Techniques in Feed Technology
Projects focused on innovative technologies and production methods involving:
- Alternative raw materials that do not compete with human food
- More efficient resource use
- New feed production technologies
- Addressing technical challenges such as microbial contamination
- Development of new production chains
Category 3: Harnessing Animal Production Chains
Projects supporting the establishment, implementation or development of feed technology in developing countries, particularly through:
- Animal feed technology development
- Improved knowledge of the nutritional value of feed raw materials
- Feed mixing, processing and production technologies
- Upgrading existing production capabilities
- Training and practical assessment in recipient countries
- Local support, investment and capacity building
Eligible Applicants
The Foundation considers funding requests from organisations including:
- Universities

- Innovators and eligible commercial companies
Projects may be submitted individually or through a consortium, where relevant.
Category 3 Geographic Requirement
For Category 3, the project must involve a recipient party in a country classified as a lower-income or lower-middle-income economy according to OECD standards.
The recipient country should also provide demonstrable local support and investment, with recipient-party investments verified through audit statements.
Assessment Criteria
Applications are assessed on:
- Quality and feasibility of the project plan
- Realism of the timeline and budget
- Overall financing and co-financing
- Degree of innovation
- Scientific substantiation and relevant research
- Economic potential
- Organisational quality and track record
- Strength of the consortium
- Social, environmental and societal relevance
For Category 3, additional emphasis is placed on local implementation, training, recipient-country support, practical technology development and proven experience in developing-country contexts.
Application Assessment
Each assessment criterion is scored from 1 to 5.
A score of 1 on any criterion is essentially a no-go. Final scores are discussed by the board, and applications are ranked within the three funding categories.
