Thakadu Energy™ is an innovative South African energy technology developed by Thakadu Holdings and Investments (Pty) Ltd. The innovation aims to provide affordable, AI-powered backup energy solutions for households, businesses and communities experiencing unreliable electricity supply or lacking access to the national grid. Rather than replacing existing electricity infrastructure, Thakadu Energy complements it by providing intelligent backup power through hybrid solar and battery technology.
The inspiration behind Thakadu Energy came from the growing impact of load shedding, rising electricity costs and the lack of affordable backup power solutions for ordinary South Africans and underserved communities. We recognised the need for a solution that combines clean energy, artificial intelligence, flexible financing and excellent customer support to make reliable backup power accessible to more people.
The product ecosystem includes the Thakadu Power Box™, Power Wall™, Power Cart™ and Mini Grid™, each available in Essential, Plus and Pro models to meet different energy requirements. The intended end users include households, small and medium-sized businesses, schools, healthcare facilities, informal settlements, rural communities and public institutions across South Africa and the African continent.
