LÜLA
LÜLA has developed a multi-platform community for the transport sector which aims to connect key stakeholders in order to improve safe and convenient transport that is accessible to all. The platform provides several essential services to achieve this, including ticketless transit options, automatic fare collection, and mobile passenger information systems. Thus, we hope to enable the community to make better travel decisions by bridging the information gap. As an open-source venture, anybody to can join the community platform, we are digitalizing safe commuting! The platform connects passengers with any of our multiple-operator vehicles without the need to buy tickets, separate cards, passes, or cash with the touch of a button. Using our technology, we allow operators, transport service providers, drivers and commuters alike to view what’s going on in real-time. Whether it’s revenue collection on the operator side, traffic and road incidents on the driver side or the nearest bus available for the commuter. Through a “schedule-less” user experience, we keep everyone in the loop and up to date! Leveraging this shared economy, ePayments, and mobile technology, we make sure all the relevant information for commuting requirements are delivered to the mobile device via the platform providing an end-to-end method of improving the overall quality of transport in the ecosystem. Based in Johannesburg, South Africa, LÜLA has been at the forefront of innovation in terms of modernising personal transport. To achieve this we have worked with reputable industry leaders such as Busmark, South Africa’s largest bus manufacturer, RAW Industries, as well as the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), Africa’s largest science and technology research institute. Furthermore, in working with these clients and partners, we have produced the iBus - Africa’s first fully integrated and intelligent bus which is made of 97% local components and designed to improve the intelligence, efficiency and operations of bus transportation the world over. Lastly, the African Union recognised LÜLA’s efforts were as one of five cutting-edge innovations lead by young people disrupting Africa at the 2017 African Economic Platform in Port Louis, Mauritius.
