Youth
Community Upliftment
Summary

Youth empowerment remains a critical pillar for building inclusive economic growth, strengthening communities and developing the next generation of leaders and entrepreneurs. As South Africa commemorates Youth Month, there is an opportunity not only to reflect on the legacy of the youth of 1976, but also to invest in initiatives that equip young people with the knowledge, networks and support needed to shape the country's future.

The Johannesburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI), in partnership with the South African Local Government Association (SALGA), invites young people and community stakeholders to participate in a Youth Empowerment Event focused on leadership, empowerment and community development.

The event aims to create an engaging platform where participants can connect, share ideas and explore opportunities for personal and professional growth while encouraging active citizenship and community participation. Through discussions centred on youth leadership and empowerment, attendees will be inspired to contribute meaningfully to their communities and become agents of positive change.

In the spirit of giving back, attendees are requested to bring a pack of sanitary towels as their entry contribution. This initiative seeks to address period poverty by supporting young girls who lack access to essential menstrual hygiene products, helping to restore dignity while encouraging greater educational participation and wellbeing.

By combining youth development with a community-driven social impact initiative, the event highlights the importance of collaboration between business, local government and citizens in creating opportunities that empower young people and strengthen communities.
