The Green Economy Accelerator, powered by Nedbank and delivered by Innovate Durban, is an 18-month enterprise development programme designed to support and scale green businesses operating in KwaZulu-Natal.
The programme is aimed at enterprises that have moved beyond the early idea stage and have validated products or services, with support focused on strengthening business, market and investment readiness. Innovate Durban’s latest announcement confirms that selected participants can receive R200,000 in grant funding from Nedbank, alongside the accelerator support.

Who Should Apply
The opportunity is intended for founders and enterprise owners who meet the following criteria:
- The founder or enterprise owner must reside in KwaZulu-Natal.
- The enterprise must be based in and operating from KwaZulu-Natal.
- The business must be post-commercialisation, with a validated product or service rather than an early-stage idea.
- The enterprise must operate within the green economy sectors of agriculture, energy, water or waste.
- The business should have at least 1–2 employees.
- The enterprise should have an average annual turnover of approximately R264,000 per year or more.
- Applicants must demonstrate social impact and a commitment to completing the programme.
Programme Support
Participants will receive support focused on moving their enterprises towards greater personal, business, market and investment readiness.

- People-focused leadership workshops.
- One-on-one personal mentorship.
- Strategy development.
- Finance mentorship.
- Governance, compliance and legal support.
- Skills training.
- Market-readiness support.
