Globalstars Call with Japan (EUREKA Network)
Globalstars is a multilateral funding initiative enabling international research and development collaboration. The current call supports joint R&D projects between Japan and participating EUREKA countries, including South Africa, Austria, Belgium (Flanders), Canada, Denmark, France, Israel, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Norway, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, and the United Kingdom.
This call funds civilian R&D covering a wide spectrum: quantum technology, artificial intelligence, robotics, semiconductors, electronics, energy and environment, biotechnology, new materials, medical devices, aerospace, mining, and other industrial technologies (excluding nuclear power and drug discovery).
Projects must involve international cooperation and focus on developing innovative products, processes, or services for commercialization. Funding decisions and processes are managed by national funding agencies according to their procedures and regulations.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Consortium must include at least two independent legal entities, one from Japan and a minimum of one from another participating EUREKA country.
- South African organizations are eligible, provided they form consortia with Japanese and other participating country partners.
- No single organization or country can account for more than 70% of total project costs.
- All projects must have a civilian purpose.
- Project duration: 12–36 months.
- A signed consortium agreement is required before commencement.
- National funding criteria may add further requirements; consult your country’s agency.
