The Gauteng Enterprise Propeller (GEP) has launched a targeted funding call to support the growth, expansion, and competitiveness of Small, Medium and Micro Enterprises (SMMEs) operating within the manufacturing sector and its subsectors in Gauteng Province, South Africa.

This funding intervention is designed to strengthen the provincial manufacturing ecosystem by enabling qualifying enterprises to scale operations, improve productivity, invest in operational capacity, and enhance their market position. Eligible businesses may apply for funding of up to R5 million to support sustainable business development initiatives aligned with manufacturing growth objectives.

Purpose of the Fund

The GEP Manufacturing Support Fund aims to:

  • Promote sustainable growth of Black-owned manufacturing enterprises
  • Improve productive capacity and operational efficiency
  • Strengthen industrial competitiveness within Gauteng Province
  • Stimulate job creation and inclusive economic participation
  • Support viable enterprises with demonstrated financial performance

Funding Amount

  • Up to R5 million per approved applicant
  • Funding decisions will be based on eligibility, financial viability, and alignment with programme objectives.

Geographic Scope

This opportunity is:

  • Country-specific: South Africa
  • Province-specific: Gauteng Province only

Only SMMEs operating and registered within Gauteng Province are eligible to apply.

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify, applicants must meet all of the following requirements:

  1. Be a Gauteng-based SMME operating in the manufacturing sector or its subsectors
  2. Be at least 51% Black-owned
  3. Have an annual turnover of R1 million or more
  4. Provide two (2) years’ financial statements
  5. Submit up-to-date management accounts
  6. Provide twelve (12) months’ bank statements
  7. Be statutorily compliant, including:
    • Tax compliance
    • Proper business registration
    • All required regulatory compliance

Applications must be submitted with completed application forms and all supporting documentation as outlined in the official checklist.

Failure to meet any of the above requirements may result in disqualification.
