Freeport Saldanha, an industrial development zone, is situated in the largest and deepest natural port in the Southern Hemisphere, it operates as a freeport that offers streamlined customs processes and bespoke facilities and services to its tenants and operators.

Freeport Saldanha is a strategic government initiative and a delivery partner for South Africa’s National Development Plan (NDP) goals, actively supporting key programmes such as Operation Phakisa to achieve a collective vision for the country. Project Khulisa is a provincial partnership initiative with the Western Cape Government focusing on growing the province’s economy through job creation and opportunities.

Programmes Offered

  • Skills Development Programme: focuses on enabling and empowering through a collaborative approach to upskilling and aiming to facilitate the training of 520 community members annually. Since 2013, this programme partnership has allowed Freeport Saldanha to implement almost 2 800 training programmes that benefit at least 1 300 individuals through: skills programmes, learnerships, apprenticeships and specialised programmes.
  • SMME Development Programmes:  Ensures that local enterprises and contractors are business-ready, able to participate in and benefit from the new opportunities created by Freeport Saldanha. The port is utilising its in-depth knowledge, specialised expertise and a comprehensive understanding of the industry and investors’ requirements to build a business community that is appropriately equipped to deliver world-class services to the global maritime industry.
