Applications are now open for the 2026 FNF Afri GreenPitch Challenge, a regional entrepreneurship competition designed to identify, showcase, and support innovative green SMEs that are developing commercially viable solutions to sustainability and environmental challenges across Africa.

The initiative is implemented by GreenCape and Westerwelle Startup Haus Mombasa, in partnership with the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom (FNF).

Building on the success of previous editions, the 2026 challenge expands beyond South Africa to include entrepreneurs and innovators from seven African countries. The programme aims to strengthen the green economy ecosystem by connecting promising businesses with investors, business support organisations, policymakers, and industry experts.

Selected finalists will participate in "Shark Tank-style" pitching events where they will present their solutions to a panel of judges, investors, and ecosystem stakeholders. Participants will also gain access to networking opportunities, investor engagement, mentorship support, and business visibility.

The competition seeks innovative green businesses that are already operating, generating revenue, and looking for funding and growth opportunities.

Prize and Support Available

The winner and finalists will compete for a range of cash and in-kind prizes valued at approximately USD 20,000.

Additional benefits include:

  • Exposure to investors and potential funders
  • Participation in high-profile pitching events
  • Networking opportunities with green economy stakeholders
  • Access to business support and mentorship
