Overview of Business

Services offered
Ewid Food Safety Solutions provides:
•    Food Safety Management System (FSMS) design and implementation aligned to FSSC 22000, ISO 22000, GFSI Basic, HACCP and GMP/PRPs.
•    Internal, supplier and pre‑certification audits, gap assessments and corrective action support.
•    Quality management support (ISO 9001‑aligned procedures, document control, non‑conformance and CAPA systems).
•    Food safety and quality training for management and production staff (hygiene, HACCP basics, PRPs, R638/R146 compliance, record‑keeping).
•    Product development support: specifications, basic testing plans, shelf‑life and labelling compliance (R146).

Target customers
Primary clients are small and medium food manufacturers and start‑ups in Gauteng, including:
•    Bakeries and confectionery producers
•    Spice blenders, seasoning and ingredient manufacturers
•    Flavour and beverage producers
•    Ready‑to‑eat and processed food businesses
•    Food businesses needing retailer approval or certification (FSSC/ISO/GFSI Basic).

Innovation
Ewid’s approach is innovative because it:
•    Builds “audit‑ready but simple” systems designed for small teams, using plain language, visual work instructions and minimal paperwork.
•    Uses digital, paper‑light tools (shared drives, simple forms, checklists, and templates) so clients can maintain records without heavy admin.
•    Integrates food safety with basic quality and product development, so clients get one practical system instead of separate, conflicting documents.
•    Focuses on building a food safety culture through short, practical training sessions tied directly to daily tasks on the production floor.
Stage of business and traction
Ewid Food Safety Solutions is an early scale‑up.

Current traction includes:
•    paying clients served to date (mix of start‑ups and established SMEs in Gauteng). Served +10 clients in past year
•    Successful implementation of FSMS from scratch for multiple clients, including one that achieved a 94% audit score and became an approved supplier.
•    Ongoing support contracts for audits, training and document reviews with repeat clients.
•    Steady growth in enquiries from manufacturers seeking FSSC 22000/ISO 22000 readiness and R638/R146 compliance.

Funding requirement
Funding would be used to:
•    Develop standardised digital templates, checklists and training materials that can be scaled across more clients.
•    Invest in marketing and business development (website optimisation, LinkedIn/Google ads, sales collateral) to reach more SMEs nationally.
•    Cover working capital to take on larger, multi‑site projects and longer certification programmes without cash‑flow constraints.
•    Support accreditation efforts (e.g. FoodBev SETA training provider accreditation) and advanced auditor certifications to expand service offerings.
This will enable Ewid to serve more manufacturers, shorten project turnaround times, and increase revenue and impact.

Geographic reach
•    Currently operating primarily in Gauteng (Johannesburg, Midrand, surrounding industrial areas).
•    Serving clients remotely across South Africa where possible (document reviews, virtual training, remote audits).
•    Intention to expand into KwaZulu‑Natal and Western Cape food manufacturing hubs over the next 12–24 months, and to support exporters needing compliance for regional African markets.
