Entrepreneurship
Skills Development
Summary

Access to accurate information about government support programmes remains one of the key challenges facing many young people seeking to pursue entrepreneurship, develop new skills or access employment opportunities. While a range of public sector initiatives exist to support youth development, many eligible beneficiaries remain unaware of the funding, business support and career development opportunities available to them.

To address this information gap, the Government Communication and Information System (GCIS) will host the Connecting Young People to Government Opportunities Webinar, a virtual information session designed to improve awareness of government programmes and connect young people with institutions that support economic participation and sustainable livelihoods.

The webinar will bring together representatives from key government institutions responsible for entrepreneurship support, enterprise development and employment creation. Participants will gain first-hand insights into government initiatives that promote business development, youth empowerment and career advancement, while learning how to access available opportunities and support mechanisms.

The session will provide information on a range of programmes and initiatives, including:

  • Small business support programmes
  • Youth entrepreneurship funding opportunities
  • Skills development initiatives
  • Employment support programmes
  • Leadership development opportunities
  • Bursary opportunities
  • Government services that promote economic participation and sustainable livelihoods

The webinar will also feature expert presentations from representatives of the Companies and Intellectual Property Commission (CIPC), the Department of Small Business Development (DSBD) and the Presidential Employment Stimulus, providing participants with practical guidance on available support and pathways to accessing government programmes.

This webinar presents an excellent opportunity for young entrepreneurs, students, job seekers and aspiring business owners to better understand the government support ecosystem and identify programmes aligned with their personal, educational and entrepreneurial aspirations.
