Clay at Play (Pty) Ltd was formed by a creative family team. After over 20 years in the advertising and creative industry, we decided to venture into ceramics and established a ceramics studio in 2020. We’re based in Orange Grove, Johannesburg and our studio has been growing in leaps and bounds. We equipped ourselves with a pair of two phase electric kilns and we have never looked back and have been pinching and firing one vessel at a time. We also host clay workshops for the public and community members. We call it the ceramic studio that comes to you. We have been popping up at various events, boardrooms, music concerts, birthday parties, schools and other interesting spaces. In February 2025, we opened a garage shop where we sell our wares. We have recently launched a ceramic artisanal box, a new way to create in the comfort of your own home. You buy the box from us with paints, brushes, a mug or a bowl and you go home to let out your creative juices. Then you pack it back in a box, courier it back to us at no cost, we fire it for you and send it back to you at no cost. Then you have a finished ceramic piece that you did yourself.
