Bio1 Solutions is a Tanzanian biotechnology and circular economy startup dedicated to transforming organic waste into sustainable agricultural solutions. Our mission is to reduce environmental pollution caused by improperly managed fish waste while providing affordable, high-quality organic fertilizers that improve soil health, increase crop productivity, and support sustainable farming.
Every day, large quantities of fish waste generated from fish markets, processing plants, restaurants, and households are disposed of in landfills or water bodies, causing unpleasant odors, greenhouse gas emissions, water pollution, and public health concerns. At the same time, many farmers struggle with rising fertilizer costs and declining soil fertility due to the excessive use of synthetic fertilizers.
Bio1 Solutions addresses both challenges through an innovative biological conversion process that transforms fish waste into nutrient-rich liquid organic fertilizer. Using controlled microbial fermentation and natural biological processes, we recover valuable nutrients that would otherwise become environmental pollutants and convert them into an effective agricultural input. This circular economy approach reduces waste while creating value for farmers and communities.
Our organic fertilizer improves soil fertility, enhances microbial activity, increases nutrient availability, promotes healthier plant growth, and contributes to long-term soil sustainability. Unlike many conventional chemical fertilizers that primarily supply nutrients, our product also supports soil biological health and helps improve water retention and soil structure.
Our primary beneficiaries include smallholder farmers, commercial farms, agricultural cooperatives, agro-dealers, horticultural producers, and institutions promoting sustainable agriculture. We also partner with fish processors, markets, and municipalities by providing an environmentally responsible solution for managing organic waste.
Through our innovation, we aim to reduce organic waste pollution, improve food production, lower farmers' production costs, create green jobs, strengthen climate-smart agriculture, and contribute to a more circular and sustainable economy in Tanzania.
Our long-term vision is to become a leading producer of sustainable bio-based agricultural inputs in Tanzania and expand across East Africa and the African continent while building a resilient circular bioeconomy that benefits both people and the environment.
