The Alstom Foundation 2026 Call for Projects is now open, inviting NGOs to submit high-impact, community-driven initiatives aligned with sustainable development priorities in countries where Alstom operates.

The Foundation funds projects that generate measurable social, environmental, and economic benefits, particularly those improving livelihoods, environmental resilience, access to mobility, and essential services.

The 2026 funding cycle opens on 16 February 2026 and closes on 10 April 2026 (11:59 pm CET).

This is a structured, competitive funding process requiring strong local partnerships and clear alignment with Alstom Foundation priorities.

Key Focus Areas

Projects must align with at least one of the Foundation’s four strategic axes:

1. Economic & Social Development

  • Skills development and employability for disadvantaged youth and women
  • Support for street children, orphans, and foster children
  • Sustainable job creation and community-based economic empowerment

2. Environmental Protection

  • Environmental awareness initiatives
  • Biodiversity and natural habitat protection
  • Climate resilience and disaster risk reduction

3. Access to Mobility

  • Improving access to transport for remote or disadvantaged communities
  • Enhancing movement of people and goods to enable economic participation
  • Facilitating access to education, healthcare, and markets

4. Access to Energy & Water

  • Expanding access to electricity in underserved communities
  • Improving access to safe drinking water
  • Strengthening infrastructure for essential services

Eligible Countries

Projects must be located in a country where Alstom is represented. Eligible countries include:

Algeria, Argentina, Australia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, Chile, China, Colombia, Croatia, Czech Republic, Denmark, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Egypt, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Hungary, India, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Ivory Coast, Kazakhstan, Latvia, Luxemburg, Malaysia, Mexico, Morocco, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Pakistan, Panama, Peru, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Qatar, Romania, Saudi Arabia, Senegal, Serbia, Singapore, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Tanzania, Thailand, Tunisia, Turkiye, UAE, Ukraine, United Kingdom, USA, Uzbekistan, Vietnam.

Eligibility & Key Conditions

To qualify, projects must:

  • Align with one or more of the Foundation’s key axes
  • Serve the general public interest
  • Be measurable in impact and outcomes
  • Be feasible within the proposed budget and timeline
  • Involve local stakeholders and management
  • Be implemented by a legally established, competent NGO
  • Be in line with the Alstom Foundation Ethics Charter
  • Be located in the same country as the supporting Alstom employee

Additional conditions:

  • Each NGO may submit only one project.
  • NGOs operating in multiple countries must designate one submitting country.
  • Each Alstom employee may support only one project per year.

Role of the Alstom Promoter

Every project must be submitted by an NGO in partnership with an Alstom employee acting as the Project Promoter, based in the same country where the project is implemented.

The Promoter:

  • Supports preparation and validation of the project file
  • Assists in monitoring project implementation if selected
  • Acts as liaison with the Foundation Secretariat

If applicants do not know an Alstom employee, they may request assistance from the Secretariat.

Deadline to request support in identifying a Promoter: 13 March 2026

Project Cycle & Timeline

Project Definition Phase

10 February – 13 March 2026
Definition of the project with partners and stakeholders, and verification of adherence to Alstom Foundation guidelines. Preparation of the full project file.

Submission Deadline

10 April 2026 (11:59 pm CET)
Final deadline for submission via the online platform.

Selection Phase

Mid-September 2026
Projects selected by the Foundation Board.
Successful applicants proceed to contract elaboration and signature, detailing objectives, budget plan, and implementation timeline.

Implementation & Monitoring

Ongoing throughout the year.
Review of achievements, verification of milestones, and monitoring of overall objectives.

Application Process

  • Projects must be submitted online via the Alstom Foundation portal.
  • Applications are completed through structured forms.
  • Draft saving is allowed before final submission.
  • Once submitted, the evaluation process begins automatically.

  • Organisations with measurable, community-based development projects
  • NGOs active in youth employment, environmental sustainability, mobility, water access, or energy access
