Advancing low-emission, climate-resilient agriculture through African research, innovation and collaboration.

The Africa-wide AgriGHG Research & Innovation Symposium (AWIS 2027) will bring together researchers, innovators, policymakers, industry leaders, investors and development partners to advance practical solutions for reducing agricultural greenhouse gas emissions while strengthening climate resilience and agricultural productivity across Africa.

Agriculture faces increasing pressure to improve food production while reducing emissions, protecting natural resources and adapting to climate change. Addressing these challenges requires collaboration between research institutions, technology developers, farmers, industry and policymakers to move promising innovations from research into practical application and wider adoption.

Key objectives

• Advance agricultural innovation: Showcase research, technologies and practical solutions that support low-emission, climate-smart and climate-resilient agriculture.
• Strengthen collaboration: Connect researchers, innovators, agricultural stakeholders, industry partners, investors and policymakers to identify opportunities for partnerships and knowledge exchange.
• Support technology adoption and scale: Create pathways for promising solutions to reach users, attract partners and achieve wider implementation across African agricultural systems.
• Promote evidence-based action: Encourage research and innovation that can inform agricultural policy, emissions measurement and monitoring, mitigation and adaptation strategies.

AWIS 2027 Innovation Marketplace

A key feature of the symposium will be the Innovation Marketplace Live Demonstrations, providing a platform for innovators to showcase technologies, products, research and practical solutions.

Participating innovators will have opportunities to:

• Demonstrate technologies and solutions to relevant stakeholders.
• Connect with potential partners, investors and industry representatives.
• Explore collaboration, funding and commercialisation opportunities.
• Increase the visibility and potential uptake of innovations addressing agricultural emissions and climate resilience.

Priority innovation areas

The symposium and Innovation Marketplace welcome relevant solutions in areas including:

• Climate-smart agriculture, resilience and climate adaptation.
• Agricultural greenhouse gas research, measurement, monitoring and emissions reduction.
• Soil health, carbon management and regenerative agricultural practices.
• Digital agriculture, artificial intelligence, precision farming and connectivity.
• Livestock efficiency and emissions reduction.
• Policy, impact and the scaling of agricultural innovations.

Who should participate?

Researchers, universities, startups, innovators, agritech companies, technology developers, farmer organisations, industry partners, investors, policymakers, development organisations and other stakeholders working to improve agricultural sustainability and reduce greenhouse gas emissions across Africa.

AWIS 2027 offers an opportunity to connect research with practical implementation, strengthen the agricultural innovation ecosystem and support the development and scaling of solutions for Africa's low-emission agricultural future.
